I had a video go viral on TikTok in my first 3 posts and here’s how…

What is up everybody?!  My name is Dyllon Ryan and I’m the Director of Client Services here at ADvine.  Since this is my first blog of 2020, I hope everyone had a great Holiday Season and you’ve kicked 2020 off to a great start.  Mine was a little more interesting than usual.  I broke my ankle and had to have surgery on December 16th and I’m quickly learning how much I miss life with 2 usable legs.

Sooo yeah TikTok… I had a video go viral in my first 3 posts.

If you haven’t heard – TikTok is the newest social media app, and According to intelligence firm Sensor Tower, TikTok was the second most downloaded app in 2019.  In Q4 alone there were 220 million installs which was a 24% increase from Q3.

So it all happened with a video of my daughter playing basketball.  She’s 6 and it’s her second time playing a sport and first-time playing basketball.  Here’s the clip.

At the time I’m writing this it has 286 thousand views, which is absolutely mind blowing.  Here’s how I did it:

  1. I used a song that is popular in the app. TikTok is known for dances and videos to real music and I picked a song people were familiar with.
  2. Their algorithm rewards views to the end of the video at a very high rate, meaning if people watch till the end, it’ll be shown to more people. Knowing that, i used “wait for it” to make people wait and see what happened.
  3. My daughter provided great content that people wanted to comment on and like which also help with TikToks algorithm, but not at the rate as full views, and most importantly – watching more than once.

Here’s a great example of how the world changes with a new app that immediately draws attention and most importantly for business owners, eyeballs.  If you’re looking to change with the times and you want a company that’s willing to be on top of the best opportunities, use this as an example for what ADvine can do for you and your business.  Thanks for tuning in!
